St. Theresa Umueze-Anam
In January 2008, Discalced Carmelites Nigeria assumed the administration of St. Theresa’s Parish Umu-eze Anam in Onitsha Archdiocese. Since the parish was already blessed with an existing church building which was in need of roofing prior to the coming of the Discalced Carmelites, the Community have intensified efforts to see that the church is roofed and completed. We are hoping that with the cooperation of the parishioners that the Church roofing will be completed before the end of 2009.
As part of the developments in the parish, three new out-stations have been created for the Parish and this have drawn more people to the Church.
However, there is an urgent need for a conducive Community house for the Friars since the existing parish house was not designed for the sort of community life for which Carmelites are known. Besides its foundations are weak and was recently reinforced.
At present, Andrew Ifeanyi Unegbu (Parish Administrator) and Eliseus Umeakuana are the two members of this Community.
